Dear Parents and Carers
The cold weather of late has been holding back our plans to ready the swimming pool for the children – we will let you know when we are able to start. We are still hoping the pool will be in use before half term, but the session times will be organised to limit the number of groups using the pool each day.
Relaxation of rules
In line with the next stage of the Government’s Road Map, I am writing to let you know that, from Monday, we are no longer asking that you wear a face covering when you deliver and collect your children at school, but I do ask that you continue to maintain a safe distance from other households (preferably two metres or more) to help everyone reach the end of restrictions next month.
From 17 May, in line with Step 3 of the roadmap, face coverings will no longer be recommended for pupils and students in classrooms or communal areas, in all schools and FE providers. Face coverings will also no longer be recommended for staff in classrooms.
Our staff will continue to wear masks when in confined or busy spaces and when talking to you or other visitors – we ask that you continue to do the same. We also would like you to continue to wear a mask if you need to come into Reception. We are hoping we will be able to go back to a more normal approach to welcoming you into school as soon as possible, but it is likely there will be restrictions on numbers and the types of activity parents and carers can be involved in while in the school building. We will let you know the changes to the rules as soon as they become clear. We will continue to operate a staggered lunchtime and separate areas for the children on the playground and field, at least until 21st June.
We are still hoping to limit the number of belongings the children bring into school, so please help us by sending the children in only with what they need for the day, and for them to have a small bag for their PE kits which need to stay in school as far as possible.
Bikeability – update and reminder
I have just had confirmation from Mr Timberlake to say that he will be able to accommodate Year 3 pupils who are already 8 years old in the Level 1 training on Monday – apologies for the late notice. Please complete a form and bring in with your child’s bike and helmet on Monday.
If your child is in Years 4, 5 or 6 and you would like them to have the Bikeability training on Monday after school, please remember to bring the bike, helmet and permission slip in on Monday. Please also check that the bike is roadworthy as Mr Timberlake will not have time to pump up tyres etc. The checklist is on the permission form or at Bikeability | Cycle training for everyone, delivering better, safer cycling
Vacancy – After School Club
Our Breakfast Club and After School Clubs are becoming more and more popular and we are delighted to be able to offer this facility at our school. We are now looking to increase our staffing levels for the After School Club to match, particularly for the first hour after school, and on occasions for the whole session. This would be an excellent opportunity for some extra weekly income and a good way to get experience working with children, perhaps as a lead-in to a role as Teaching Assistant. If you would be interested in this post, the rates of pay and benefits, please contact the office.
I hope you all have a very relaxing weekend.
With best wishes
James Stanford
