A very Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and managed some rest in between the festivities. The children have all come back buzzing and ready to learn! We also have a new member of staff with us, I’m really pleased to introduce Mrs Symonds to you all. She is now teaching Conkers Class, a warm welcome to her.

PARENT GOVERNOR

We have a vacancy for a parent governor on the school’s Governing Body we invite parents who are interested in taking up this role to contact Mrs Pike, we can then explain in more detail what is involved. Below see below more information to help you decide if you are interested.

What is the role of school governors and governing bodies?

 Governing bodies are responsible for a wide range of matters, which include ensuring that pupils receive high quality education and planning for the future development and improvement of the school. Parent governors play an important role as members of the governing body and are welcomed as valued members of the team. The governing body is answerable to parents, learners and the wider community. The governing body works together – governors do not make decisions individually.

To be an effective governor you need to be able to commit to attend governing body meetings regularly. We expect that Governors will attend up to six meetings a year which will take place in the evening and rarely last more than two hours.

What will you gain as a school governor?

 The opportunity to make a real difference to the school and its children and the chance to contribute to the good of the community, leading to real satisfaction and a sense of achievement. You will gain an understanding of the decision making process of school governing bodies and an awareness of the education system as a whole;

  • You will develop new skills and strengthen existing ones. You will be offered training provided by the Local Authority on various aspects of the governor role.

If you are interested then please could you contact Mrs Pike by the 27th January 2017.
