Dear Parents and Carers
The children have come back to school in a very positive frame of mind and it has been good to see how well they have settled back into the routines and expectations. It is clear that many of them spent a considerable amount of time during the holiday working on their Creative Curriculum projects, and the results are terrific. Well done to all the children who have brought in their work; I hope those of you who had a chance to see it at this afternoon’s Creative Curriculum Showcase enjoyed seeing the range and quality of work produced.
Forest Schools
Next week will be the first week for the new groups for Forest Schools. Children in Reception and Year 1 will be continuing, but it is now the turn for the other half of Year 3 with the Year 4s first thing in the morning (don’t forget to come to school in your Forest Schools clothes, with your uniform to change into), and for the Year 6 children in the afternoon.
Swimming
Our Lifesaving training last week was unavoidably postponed, but we have managed to rearrange it for Monday 11th. We therefore aim to start swimming on Tuesday 12th June. Our regular timetable for swimming is:
Conkers: Tuesday 2:20 – 3:20pm, Thursday 2:20 – 3:20pm
Acorns: Tuesday 9:00 – 10:00am, Thursday 1:20 – 2:20pm
Chestnuts: Wednesday 1:20 – 3:20pm, Friday 10:00 – 11:00am
Oaks: Tuesday 11:20 – 12:20pm Wednesday 1:20 – 3:20pm
As we want to make the best use of our pool over the last few weeks, we will aim to go in at other times of the week, so please make sure your child has all their named kit and towel in school each day. Please also note that the children will need a swimming hat and that no jewellery, including earrings, will be worn in the pool. If you are free to help pool-side, please let the relevant teacher know (a DBS check will need to be carried out unless you already have one completed by us, but these can now be very quick).
GDPR
Thank you to those of you who have returned the GDPR notification form from last week. If you need another form to enable us to keep you informed by e-mail or text, please send a message to the office.
Kwik Cricket
Children in Year 5 were less fortunate with the weather for their Kwik Cricket Tournament today than the Year 6’s before half term, but will no doubt be benefitting from the extra training offered by the Stour Provost Cricket team this term. Their last Cricket coaching session will be on Tuesday 12th June after school, so athletics club will not be running(!).
Trips
The week after next Oaks Class has their long-anticipated residential visit to Bristol, and on Tuesday 19th June the rest of the school visits Kingston Maurward. If you have not yet returned your slip and any contribution towards this trip, please do so at the beginning of next week so we can make plans for any child not going.
Parent Forum
Don’t forget that the next Parent Forum will be taking place on 28th June at 2:30pm. All welcome.
