Dear Parents and Carers
We have now reached the end of the Summer Term, one which has had the longest spell of hot, dry weather for many years. Hopefully the forecast of decent weather for the holiday will be accurate.
Last Friday’s PTFA Barbeque was a super event and it was lovely to see so many of the children and their families here. There was plenty to entertain everyone beyond the excellent food, too, with the circus skills, hair and nail tent (I’m still getting glitter out of the swimming pool filters…thank you boys!), excellent live music thanks to our guitar teacher Tom Clements, and many other activities to make a really successful evening. Many thanks to the PTFA for their superb organisation and great teamwork which gave us all such a relaxing and fun evening.
The children have been brilliant again this week despite the heat, with their quiz yesterday morning showing that they have remembered lots of what they’ve been taught, the tea party in the afternoon giving the Year 6 children the opportunity to show their developing social skills for entertaining, and Oak Class entertained their audience with some good old-fashioned Country Dancing.
Today, quite a number of the children have been acknowledged for excellent attendance this term and throughout the year, but special mention must go to Emilie who, in seven years at Stower Provost, has been at school for 1316.5 out of a possible 1330 days – a fantastic achievement representing 99% attendance overall. Well Done!
We have also awarded many effort point certificates and reading at home certificates – it is great that the children receive such good support in their learning at home, in tandem with developing their learning ethos at school.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued and highly valued support of the school as we move forward. We are working hard to make Stower Provost an even better school and your commitment to this is invaluable. I would also like to thank all the staff for their hard work throughout the year and especially Mrs Peat who is leaving us today for pastures new. We wish her every success for the future.
I hope you all have a very happy and relaxing holiday; we wish all our Year 6 Leavers every success for the future and look forward to welcoming everyone else back on Tuesday 4th September.
James Stanford
