Dear Parents and Carers
This has been a busy week for everyone at school. Our anticipated inspection by Ofsted was all concluded by the end of the day on Wednesday but the outcome has to remain confidential until the report is published, most likely after Easter.
I can tell you, however, how enormously proud I am of the children, who were their usual happy and confident selves – a real credit to the school. I would also like to thank all of you for the overwhelmingly positive messages you gave, both through the Parent View survey and when talking to the inspector face to face. On behalf of the governors I would also like to thank all of the staff, children and parents for all the hard work leading up to the inspection, and for making the inspector so welcome.
The on-line questionnaire matched very closely with the paper one completed around parents’ evening in school the week before. Congratulations go to Rebecca Whitfield, whose raffle ticket was drawn on Wednesday – the £10 WHSmith Voucher is waiting in the office for you!
Chestnut Class Trip to Stour Provost
Today’s visit to Stour Provost was blessed with perfect weather. The children were fascinated to learn more about a local village and have produced some impressive map-work. Thank you to everyone who helped with the visit and the walk back to school.
Sporting News
A team of children from Year 5 and 6 represented the school at last week’s Swimming Gala at St Mary’s School, Shaftesbury – their first opportunity to put their honed swimming skills into practice. Well done to all the children who took part. Next Wednesday we have the Year 5/6 Football Tournament – good luck to our team in the latest competition.
There will be no clubs next week, the list of clubs will be sent out soon and they will resume week beginning 29th April
Samba Concert
Unfortunately I was unable to hear the Samba Concert on Wednesday morning, but everyone I’ve spoken to was hugely impressed with the children’s performance. Their engagement with the music and obvious enjoyment is a super result from this term’s musical experience – well done to all involved.
PTFA Quiz
I hope lots of the children have their thinking caps on for this evening’s Family Quiz. A wide variety of questions has been drawn up and we anticipate a good turn-out. Don’t forget to bring your own drinks as required, and money for the raffle and extra games.
Easter Egg Hunt and End of Term
Next Friday we will be having our usual end of term Celebration Assembly, this one with an Easter Theme with songs and poems. We will be presenting our usual certificates, totting up this term’s house points and celebrating the most recent birthdays. Unfortunately, Chicken Pox has put paid to a large number of children’s chances of a 100% Attendance Certificate, although more than a third of the school is still eligible. Later in the morning, the children will be taking part in the annual Easter Egg Hunt (thank you PTFA), which will hopefully be outside this year. At the end of school next Friday, 5th April, we break up for the Easter Holiday, and a well-deserved rest for all the children.
