Dear Parents and Carers
Well done and thank you to all the children, and staff, who came to school last Thursday dressed in something spotty. A brilliant £60 was raised and has been sent off to add to the amazing National total.
Well done also to the Year 5/6 Swimming Squad which was in action last Friday at St. Mary’s School, Shaftesbury. We have some very strong swimmers in our school and they equipped themselves very well against children from other schools. Despite not entering the relays, our Year 5 team came 5th, Year 6 were 9th giving us a very creditable 7th place overall. Well done to all the children who took part.
Our Rugby players have also been in action this week, taking on St Gregory’s School on their home turf, or mud as it was by the time we had finished…Our team pulled together very well and their play improved amazingly during the match, although not sufficiently to secure a win. A brilliant effort, though, and they should be very proud of their sportsmanship.
I have been fascinated to see the range of work the children have brought into school for this afternoon’s Curriculum Showcase, and it again shows the children’s work to be of a very high standard. Thank you for all the support you give to your children to add to their school learning; I hope those of you who have been able to come into school to see the work are also impressed.
Family Forest School Event – postponed
Unfortunately we have had to postpone this fun activity; please keep an eye out for the new date which we are planning to be during the Spring Term.
This half term is racing away and in two weeks we will be fully into the Christmas Festivities. There is plenty happening in school before then though.
Next week our footballers take on Yetminster Primary School in the first round of the Davidson Cup – we are away again, so wish us luck!
Parent/Carer Involvement – Invitation!
We are always very keen to share our ideas and plans for school improvement with you, and are equally keen to hear your thoughts about how we can make this school even better. Each term, you are invited to come into school to meet with members of the Governing Board and with me to see the progress that has been made and find out how your ideas have been acted on. This is an invitation to everyone, so do please join us for the next meeting in school on Monday 2nd December at 2:30pm. If you have any ideas you would like us to consider beforehand, e-mail them into Mrs Pike so we can be well-prepared.
The Christmas Tree Assembly marks the start of our Christmas celebrations, and takes place on Friday, 6th December. Later that same day is the PTFA Christmas Bazaar. If you are able to help out on a stall, even if it is just for part of the event, please let Mrs Pike know.
With best wishes
James Stanford
