Dear Parents and Carers
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a very relaxing Christmas and the children have enjoyed their break. It is good to see everyone present today, all looking very smart in their uniforms. You may notice that redecoration has continued in school over the holiday; work will carry on into this term until we complete a comprehensive refurbishment programme – it is already looking very spruce.
Stamp Collecting
Thank you to everyone who remembered to save their stamps over the Christmas break for us to send off to the RNIB. If you have any at home, please bring them into school – the envelope is still in Reception, and this on-going initiative is a great way for the charity to make money.
The crisp packet recycling continues to do very well – please continue collecting at home, and remember that we also recycle printer ink and toner cartridges. The Eco Club will be thinking about other ways in which we can re-use materials that otherwise end up in landfill, and I know one of these ways in reducing single-use plastics. More information will be sent home soon.
Equipment in School
Please make sure the children always bring their homework diaries/reading records into school each day. This is a really useful tool for you to jot any messages for the teachers, and for us to let you know how they are doing in school. Do always record when you hear them read at home as it helps us to plot their progress, and if they are reading other books at home in addition to their school books, please let us know. We ask that you make sure your children have their PE kits in school every day, with Forest School clothes in on Fridays. This half term, Mrs Batten will be working with Years R, 1, 2 and 3. (Years 4, 5 and 6 do not need their Forest School clothes in school at the moment).
I know many of the children have been given stationery equipment over the holidays. We are very happy for the children to use their own HB pencils, colouring pencils and handwriting pens in school, but extra felt pens or biros are not needed, and please don’t send children in with stationery toys (pencil tops etc.) as these are just a distraction.
Clubs
We have a change in the provision of some clubs this term due to staff commitments. Please sign up to any clubs for which you would like your child to be considered, and we will let you know if any clubs are full. Thank you to Ms Tynan and Mrs Hillam for offering to run their clubs this term, in addition to staff and governors giving up their time at the end of the day.

Miss Gale will also open the library for you to come in and read or change books with your children on Mondays 3:20 – 3:40pm.
Don’t forget that every day we also have Breakfast Club running from 7:45 am, and After School Club until 5:30pm for a modest fee – drop-in or pre-book.
