Dear Parents and Carers

It was wonderful to see so many of you in school this week to watch the children take part in their summer production. The children were brilliant at remembering so many lines of songs and speech and looked superb in the costumes and make-up. The children showed amazing talent for acting and their comic timing was very mature.  Thank you to everyone who was involved in the production, and well done children for all your efforts to make it such a fun production to watch. Over £200 was raised from the refreshments stall which will go towards the costs of this performance and with some left to put towards the next one!

Coming home separately today is your child’s annual report – a summary of achievements in the year and targets where appropriate. If the report does not come home, please let me know!  If you would like to discuss the contents of the report please don’t hesitate to contact the relevant teacher.  For children in Year R/2 and 6, there are separate notices of the outcomes on National Assessments.  Again the teacher will be more than happy to talk you through the scores.

The children have worked very hard throughout the year and the staffs are very pleased with both their progress and attainment, with the school’s overall scores being a significant improvement of last years.  Thank you to all the children, staff and parents for working so hard to achieve these scores.

Many thanks, also, to the members of the PTFA who came to school last Saturday to repaint and refurbish the outdoor classroom. It looks like new, or better, and has really smartened up that area of the school grounds.

Today, some of our children in Years 4 and 5 have been taking part in the Swimming Gala in Gillingham. I am sure they will do us proud.

Also today, we have our Internet Safety talk from the Safer Schools and Communities Team for children in Years 2 and 6. Please talk to your child about what they have learnt today, and if you would like any advice about how to keep your child safe on-line, there are plenty of resources on www.thinkuknow.co.uk, or for any particular questions, please don’t hesitate to contact either me or your child’s class teacher.

Tonight is the Stour Provost Cricket Club Barbecue, starting at the Cricket Field at 5:30pm. Fun games of cricket will, of course, be on offer.

Next week, we have Sports Day on Thursday 19th July. The children are involved in house team games in the morning, at 12:15pm we break for lunch when you are very welcome to bring lunch to share with your child. Please make sure your children know you are coming at that time, as they can become quite anxious if a parent is late and there is then confusion over lunch. Races are due to start promptly at 1:00pm at which point the school office will be closed. Please then come round to the playground gate where someone will let you in.

Reminder that the order deadline for school photos Wednesday 18th July, orders received after this date will incur an additional charge.

This week’s Star Pupils

This week the teachers felt that everyone had worked so hard towards the play that they have awarded their certificates to the whole class – well done, children.

With best wishes
