This has been a very busy week in the run up to the half term holiday. After a packed residential trip to Bristol, I am sure these children particularly are ready for a rest!
With activities as diverse as rocket-car building and bodyboarding, museum-visiting and theatre-going, the visit to Bristol gives the children a wide range of experiences and, as always with children from Stower Provost, they were brilliantly behaved and a pleasure to take away. Do look at the school website to see some of the activities the children took part in. Many thanks also to Mrs Clasby who gave up her time (and sleep…) to go with her class.
Shoebox Appeal
Thank you to everyone who brought in a Shoebox for the Rotary Club appeal. Another wonderful selection which will make a real difference to many families over Christmas.
School Improvements
The building and decorating works have begun well, and with a following wind should have made good progress by the time we get back from the holiday.
Ordering Lunches
Please make sure you order your children’s lunches for next half term before the deadline. It was very interesting to see how well many of the children did with the Youth Hostel menu while we were away, and, with the good quality of the lunches provided by Local Food Links, it would be good to see more of our older children trying the hot lunches at school.
East Fundraising reminder
Once Hallowe’en is over, I am sure the shops will be changing their focus to Christmas. When doing your Christmas shopping, please remember to make the most of the Easy Fundraising website which, if you order items from Amazon, E-Bay, Tesco, Asda and thousands of other on-line stores, raises money for the school. Last year, your purchases ordered in this way raised £360 for the PTFA, and it costs you nothing except a couple of extra clicks on your computer.
Ordering Christmas Cards
I have seen some lovely designs for the children’s Christmas Cards this year. Don’t forget to order yours by next Monday 28th October.
Bags to School
We are also having another ‘Bags to School’ collection next half term. If you are clearing out your cupboards, please save your unwanted clothes for us, and bring them into school for 12th December – unless they’re jeans, which you can give straight to Zack’s mum for her to turn into Christmas Stockings.
Remember we have Parents’ Evenings on 5th and 6th November; if you haven’t yet requested an appointment, please do so on our return to school and we will try to fit you in. I hope you all have a very happy and relaxing half term holiday, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 4th November.
With best wishes
James Stanford
