Dear Parents and Carers
This half term has flown by and we are, of course, breaking up for the half term holiday. The children have been working very hard but have also had many fun events. It was lovely to see them all dressed up on Tuesday for their Jubilee Celebrations, looking very fine in the crowns they had made. Their medals, crafted from locally sourced wood, were a lovely idea and a perfect souvenir of this extraordinary occasion. The children will also be presented with a special commemorative book and bookmark, which are due to arrive in school in early July. I hope you all enjoy the festivities in your communities during the long Bank Holiday weekend next weekend.
Class Assemblies
Next half term is looking as though it will be even busier than this one. We have arranged for class assemblies to take place on the following dates, and you are welcome to attend any or all of them:
Beech Tuesday 14th June 2:50pm
Oak Wednesday 22nd June 14:50pm
Hazel Wednesday 29th June 14:50pm
Chestnut Wednesday 6th July 14:50pm
Swimming
The pool is currently warming up well and should be in use for the first week back. The staff are having their swimming-specific first aid and health and safety training on Tuesday 7th June, so the first classes should be able to swim from Wednesday 8th June. Please send your child to school with their usual PE kits from the first day back, and then swimming kits as well from the Wednesday. Remember that no jewellery is to be worn in the pool; the children need to be able to remove their own earrings before being allowed in the pool, and as the school cannot be responsible for the safekeeping of any valuables, it would be best if no jewellery is worn on swimming days.
Summer Play
After some wonderful auditions by children in Oak Class yesterday, the staff have cast the summer production, which is looking to be great fun. All children are involved in the rehearsals and performances, so please make sure they are available on both Wednesday 13th July and Thursday 14th July in the evenings. Our performances usually start at about 6:30pm, and this show is scheduled to last about 45 minutes.
PTFA Quiz Night – Friday 10th June
Don’t forget to book your table for the quiz night at the end of the first week back.
I hope you all have a very happy and relaxing holiday, and we look forward to seeing the children all back in school on Monday, 6th June.
With best wishes
James Stanford
